Services/Policies
Your Guide Anderson Boyd/Josh Boyd, primarily specializes in Bass fishing with artificial lures, but will take on clients interested in fishing for other species. Anderson has great skills as a pan-fish fisherman as well and is confident he can put his clients in great panfishing opportunities. The Boyd's are very honest individuals. They stress that while they usually know where most of the species are in their local waters, they rarely targets species other than Bass, Catfish or Pan-fish so your results with others species may vary.
Live-bait fishing is available for bass fishing however unless it is requested live-bait will not be brought on a Bass fishing trip. They also has a strict catch and release policy when it comes to Bass. Anything over 16" Anderson/Josh asks that those precious fish be returned to the waters they came from. The smaller fish taste much better anyway. Anderson/Josh recommends replica mounts for truly large fish that one may want a mount of(they look nicer and the fish that is possibly 15-20 years old won't be killed and will hopefully provide enjoyment for someone else in the future). When targeting Walleye, Trout, or Pan-fish live-bait will always be in the boat and keeping your trophy catch is not a problem. We can help you with getting a replica made at as long as you tell us before we put the fish back in the water!
We have 2 boats available at this time. A 20ft Custom built Rock Proof-River Rocket Bass Boat and a 17ft Nitro bass boat.
Fish filet rates: Panfish........$1 per fish
other's.......$2 per fish
Fish with size limits, such as Bass and Walleye can not be fileted and transported legally in PA. The fish must stay hole for transport.
Proper fileting of fish requires lots of fresh water if the filets are going to be frozen. If you want the filets frozen and properly cleaned before delivery, you can pick the fish up frozen the next day. Fish fileting will be available at whatever location you are fishing however the fish won't be rinsed off properly, so that will be up to you.
There will be a $75 charge for a lost or broken fishing rod or reel.
In the event of an unexpected fishing tournament at a small lake you are scheduled to be guided on, Anderson/Josh may suggest going somewhere else that is nearby or you can fish with the crowd that is up to you. Fishing on tournament pressured waters is usually tough on small lakes and Anderson/Josh would recommend an alternate destination, especially if the trip is for bass on a small lake.
Cancellations
The only reason a trip may be cancelled is in emergency situations such as high water or heavy sustained wind. In which case your deposit WILL be refunded or you can reschedule your trip, that is your choice. A phone call will be made to contact you as soon as there is a definite possibility of adverse conditions. Cancellations made by clients will result in the loss of their deposit if the cancellation is made 7 days or less from the scheduled trip. If you must cancel, please call and officially make a cancellation. If Anderson/Josh ends up going out to meet clients and they don't show up, the clients will receive a bill in the mail for the day.
Come Prepared!
Dress warm and in layers especially in the spring and Fall. Its always easy to take a layer off so don't skimp on layers. If you don't have a layer to add, then you are stuck being cold and that makes for a very bad day. Staying comfortable is a very important ingredient to a successful day on the water. If rain, snow, or sleet is a possibility bring rain gear. Anderson suggests more than just a poncho and if you don't have a decent set of rain gear that will keep you dry, a good inexpensive pair to consider are Frogg Toggs or Helly Hansen. There are also some high end rain gear options that will not allow water in and will keep you dry no matter what the conditions are. Some high end options are Bass Pro Shop 100mph Rain Suit and Cabelas Guidewear.
Bring the proper footwear. If we are fishing in the Susquehanna River, waterproof boots that are at least half way up the shins are highly recommended. A cheap pair of rubber boots will do, and I suggest bringing a comfortable pair of shoes to put on when you don't need the boots. This would make getting in and out of the boat much quicker and easier for you. Without boots, getting you to shore for any reason could mean getting your feet wet and that's no fun especially in the colder weather.
You are welcome to bring your own tackle, Anderson/Josh does however provide equipment and of course lures or bait. Most of the reels that he has are Daiwa, BPS, Quantum and Shimano. Anderson uses mostly BPS, Shimano, Abu Garcia, and G-Loomis rods.
Bring your lunch unless you have arranged lunch with your guide. Your guide will provide snacks and water, you may bring any other beverages you prefer. Alcohol is not permitted on a guided trip.
Your PA fishing license, don't forget to get a PA fishing license. They can be purchased online here.
Bring your own camera if you would like to take your own pictures. Anderson will have a digital camera on-board, which he will use to take pictures of any fish that you want a photo of. After your trip is over, Anderson/Josh will send your full size digital pictures via email or CD, whichever you prefer.
Max 2 passengers at a time on the Nitro. Only 1 passenger/client at a time on the Sea Nymph. This is simply due to weight restrictions and comfort concerns for the boats.(Group outings are a possibility using multiple guides and boats, call or email for details.)
Meeting arrangements must be made prior to your trip date. Anderson/Josh will pick up clients within the town of Tunkhannock or meet them at the boat ramp of their destination. If Anderson/Josh is meeting you somewhere to pick you up he will be extra early due to launch and boat prep before a trip starts. Please do not be late, if you do not show up at the agreed upon time your trip will start with or without you. If you are a running late please notify Anderson/Josh via a phone call. No call no show after 1/2hr of the agreed start time will result in possible loss of your trip and your deposit will be lost and you will receive a bill for the day. All financial obligations must be handled before the start of your guided trip. No pay, no trip. A deposit loss and a bill in the mail for the lost trip will follow.

We have 2 boats available at this time. A 20ft Custom built Rock Proof-River Rocket Bass Boat and a 17ft Nitro bass boat.
- The Nitro and the River Rocket both have a 101lb thrust Minn Kota Fortrex trolling motor to hold the boat in the strongest winds and fastest currents.
- The Nitro is powered by a 60hp Tracker/Mercury outboard. The boat is also equipped with a Lowrance GPS/fish-finding unit at the drivers console and a Hummingbird fish-finder at the bow. There are also 3 pedastal seats in the boat for maximum comfort while fishing.
- Custom-River Rocket is 20ft + a 2ft rear deck extension. I designed the layout of this boat with the help of Brent Kauffman at Rock Proof Boats. The goals were awesome fish-ability, lots of below deck storage, comfort, safety, convenience and of course the ability to skim over just inches of water. It is rigged with a 200hp Mercury Optimax In-Board Sport Jet. It has a huge divided livewell, anti-skid deck coating, 2-built in coolers that double as steps for the front casting deck and many other nice options. This is what we came up with for our clients to enjoy. The boat is also equipped with all of the latest and greatest in fishing technology. Including 2-Power Pole shallow water anchors with drift paddles, which will grant us awesome boat control while trolling, drifting, or anchoring. The Power Poles will allow us to tend to our clients better, by allowing the guide to move around the boat without having to worry about where the boat will be drifting as much. It is also equipped with 2-Hummingbird 998c HD SI/DI/GPS units. We will be adding 360 degree imaging as soon as the Trolling Motor transducer becomes available(should be soon). The Side Imaging won't be very useful in the Susquehanna River, however it will be super helpful on the lakes we guide on. Brent at Rock Proof builds one heck of a great boat and I have to give him 2 thumbs-up for building the boat that no other builder could offer!

Instructional Bass Fishing Trips
Instructional trips will focus more on teaching everything there is to know about a particular technique, fish habits, strategies, and or whatever you want to hone your skills on! We will talk about the situations or conditions you might face and how the fish will react to the baits your are interested in learning about. These trips will usually yield less fish but are a bargain with the knowledge gained. Bring a notepad!
Instructional only trips have the same rates as above.
