Hit the river again on Monday morning for a few hours with my brother and we ended up putting over 50 smallies in the boat. We left at 11:30 wishing we could stay longer, LOL. Biggest was about 18". In the afternoon my wife wanted to go catch a few so we fished for about 30-45 minutes and caught 8 smallies. She got her fish fix and we packed it up.

Brought 2 clients to Lake Carey for a night trip targeting walleye. To my unpleasant surprise the spots that were producing Walleye just a week ago with little effort produced nothing and the Walleye won throughout the morning. We did manage to catch some rock bass while we were trying for the walleye but that was it! The last few minutes of the day I asked Steve and Maria if they wanted to try to catch at least a few decent fish and they did. So we fished for bass for a few minutes and put 2 largemouths in the boat in short order.
Hit the Suskquehanna this morning to catch some smallmouth bass. They were biting really good! Took me an hour or so to get the bite dialed in but after I got it figured out the fishing was fantastic! Put over 40 smallmouth in the boat and I left at 11:30! The last hour yeilded 20 after I found a stretch that was just loaded up! Biggest was 17"+. Also caught a few Rock Bass. Sure was a fun morning! Got them on plastics.
I Hit Lake Carey on Sunday morning, split up my day and targeted panfish about half the morning and Bass the other half. I managed to put 15-20 bass in the boat and loads of Rock Bass. I also Caught, 1 walley,1 dandy perch and about a dozen crappies to 12". Fun Morning and I quit at 11:00am! I could have caught a lot more!
I was contact by Legend Outdoors as they were in need of another guide for a group trip on Lake Wallenpaupack on Friday afternoon. My clients Graham and Mike were both great guys and caught a bunch of Rock Bass, a few pickeral, a big crappie, a couple bluegill, 2 largemouth, and 2 smallmouth bass. One of the other boats with Legend Outdoors guide Buzz got on the smallmouth big time and caught around 70 bass! Check the Photos here for a few pictures of Mike and one of Mike holding Graham's Largemouth Bass.
Living in this area is simply a bass fisherman's dream location. We have so many different and diverse waterways in every directions it is simply amazing. We have awesome fishing of the finger lakes just a couple hours north of us. We have the super clear and deep Beltzville reservoir. Lake Wallenpuapack which made the top 100 list in Bassmaster magazine of the best Bass fishing destinations in the country. The Poconos region also has tons of small lakes and the Diamond in the rough(Shohola Marsh), which has a really impressive Largemouth, Pickeral, and Panfish population. The legendary Susquehanna River flows right through out backyards in this area with catch's of over 100 smallmouth bass with an occasional walleye, a day reported when the conditions come together just right. We have fantastic Natural Lakes, like Lake Winola and Harvey's Lake which both provide fantastic fishing opportunities for both bass and trout. We have lots of small man-made lakes thanks to the PA Fish Commission, many of which have big bass regulations that keep the population of bass on the heavier and bigger side! Further out to the east we have access to Lakes like Candlewood and Rivers like the Potomac and Chesapeake Bay which are actually Southeast. To the North, yet within state lines are lakes like Duck Harbor and Prompton Dam, which are awesome fisheries as well. To the West we have Cowanesque and Hammond Lakes which are both excellent Bass, Muskie and Crappie fishing lakes. Further West we are within driving distance of Presque Isle Bay on the Legendary Lake Erie, where 100 fish days happen almost enough to call it a common occurrence, with super sized smallmouth bass, yellow perch, walleye, salmon, and trout to boot! Further North we are within driving distance of the Eastern portion of Erie, Lake Ontario, 1000 Islands, Black Lake, and countless other world famous fishing destinations! Come and enjoy the perfectly located North East PA! The number of great fisheries that are all within reach in this portion of the country is staggering. I sure do enjoy living in an area where I can drive 5 minutes and hit the river and catch smallmouth bass nonstop or I can drive to a place like Oneida Lake and enjoy the healthy Walleye, Smallmouth, and Largemouth Bass fishery that it is, fishing in a completely different way!
Hit up Lake Carey on Saturday to find out what part of the yearly cycle the Walleye were in to prepare for a future Walleye trip a client booked up. The fish were doing about what I expected and were where I thought they'd be. Caught 2 eyes while I was fishing in the manner the fish wanted in the right location, then I decided to leave them alone for my future client's to enjoy. The fishing was great on Saturday. We caught 2 Walleye to 17", big Yellow Perch, some beautiful crappies to 12.5", over 30 rock bass, half a dozen pickeral, and around 20 largemouth and smallmouth bass to 17". I managed to get some more video footage for future video productions as well.
I hit Harvey's today with a good friend and we managed to put over 20 bass in the boat. Got them mostly on jigs and wacky rigged senkos. The 3 biggest were 2-3.5lb smallies and 1-4lb largemouth. Check out the pictures page to check them out!
Hit the river with my dad today. We almost turned around when we got there because the water rose quite a bit over night and turned real muddy. Certainly not the best of conditions, but we decided to give it 1/2 an hour before packing up and going somewhere else. We ended up staying because we caught a few pretty quick. We put 20 smallies and 1 rock bass in the boat, not great for the river especially this time of year, but thats the nature of the beast on the ever changing river. Going to try out Harvey's Lake tomorrow!
